Gridron Gang

Today i went to jb again

Did quite a few stuff there. Pretty shiok. Went for a haircut at a salon, then my usual secret recipe haunt where i had mushroom chicken chop with cheese brownie and a tropical smoothie. Spent some time on the red sofa eating the brownie and reading Pastor Phil's book. Had a pretty laid back afternoon. Then i caught a show called Gridron Gang.

Firstly i have never heard of this show before until today but the poster seems to be the nicest out of all that is listed there. The rest of the shows are eragon, games of our lives,
barnyard, haunted apartment, arang(korean) and 2 malay shows. The caption on the poster also caught my attention. Its based on a true story. It says One Goal, Second Chance.

The show was pretty much okie and the plot is quite predictable. The show was set in a youth rehab centre where the inmates are mostly blacks that committed serious offense like murder, gang fights etc. The main lead acts as the camp warden and came up with a brilliant idea of forming an american football team to motivate and change the boys.

Having watched remember the titans, longest yard, The replacements, Rudy, Waterboy and now Gridron Gang, i might have watched all the american football movies available now. Okie, the plot and ending is pretty predictable but what i like is the direction of which the movie is heading, that when the inmates took ownership of the team, they found a new direction and life, and hence giving them a 2nd chance in the society. They felt worthy of being alive for another day.

This movie is like a cross of Longest yard where it also took place in jail just that the inmates in this show are more violent, and Remember the titans where the team players had some differences amongst themselves.

But i enjoyed the movie nontheless, and hey its 6 ringgit! =) and the show is not even screened in sg.
