Been away from my blog for a couple of weeks and my tuition kids are asking for updates so here i am typing a few words due to popular demand.

Well, many things happened recently, some really good ones and some really bad ones.
Been so busy, giving tuition recently, every students want a piece of me, sometimes you do spend the whole day giving tuition and its pretty tiring.
Contrary to what my students would think, and i'm referring to mingmei and gang, giving tuition isnt as easy as it seems =) Oh yah, i owe you guys a treat. Shall discuss with you guys when we start tuition on Nov Week 2. Lets not waste the effort that we made for the past few months by continuing to maintain the standard

You prepare notes, your head is ever thinking and your mouth is ever talking. Try non stop talking for 2hrs and you get my point.

Your performance is based on how your students do in the exam. As what i can see, my sec class has done pretty well. All of you improved an average of 25 marks. All the hard work and multiple exam papers that we have attempt has not gone to waste. Amy, i'm proud of you that you managed to get a B4 from a U-grade, Mingmei and LimJing, its not easy getting an A1 from just a pass. So hopefully this coming one year will be a fantastic year for you!

Primary school results are still pending and by this wednesday, everyone would have finished their exams, except me.

Well, so many datelines to meet, for a start i got to submit my FYP report on 29th to the moderator, FYP presentation is on the 31st then, exams on 12th, 13th, 25th. Then i'm done.
Been so busy and stressed with all these, and am glad that MOE actually put forward the exams dates otherwise i would still be giving crash course now.

To all those that are reading and know that i'm going through a really tough family situation, pls keep me in good prayers. To those who dont, its ok not to know, so dont ask me here.

One more week, steven and limin will be getting married. So happy for them. Well, it would be my first time to be part of the brothers team and my 2nd time emceeing a wedding dinner. Really pray that everything will be smooth on Sunday. Haha, did their wedding video too, shall be doing some admendments on tuesday onwards and start on denise wedding video also.

Tv Dramas

I quit watching Singapore tv channels long ago, they are basically lack of substance or poor acting skills. Variety shows are direct and lousy ripoffs from taiwan/korea. I was never into american dramas, having come from a chinese school and borne into a chinese speaking family, listening to 98.7 and watching american dramas just wasnt registered into me when i was in mommy's womb.

Even when ER, CSI, ALF, Friends, Baywatch was out, i never once thought of viewing them.

It all started with watching Prison Break which led me to other tv series on NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. As comparison to Singapore dramas, American dramas have better looking people with better acting skills, complicated plots, much higher production budget etc which allows you to have a cinematic experience even watching Tv. To compare american drama to singapore serials, its like comparing shark fins soup to fish soup. of course it wouldnt be fair as the singapore tv industry is still slowly growing and there are many red tapes that govern and restrict how the production can be made.

Prob many of us will even have problems naming one tv drama we watched for the past 3 years on channel 5/8/U. These are the tv series that i have been chasing

American Idol

The inital first few episodes will be interestign as the team goes around america for auditions. You get to see how different the various states in america is and the weirdest kind of people that get through. Sometimes, there would different people, weird, abnormal, funny that does things to send a message through. The later part of this reality tv show gets a bit boring as all the singers were generally good and one by one they get eliminated due to lack of votes. Excitment builds up as more and more get eliminated. I was rooting for brooke and archuleta in this season

America's Got Talent

Another Reality Tv Show which i caught lately, well this is different from American idol because its a talent contest instead of just a singing contest. People of all ages and different animals entered the contest, only to be judge by 3 judges and the 4th judge- the audience. With the regular buzzers in talent contests, the audience served as the 4th judge, given the rights to cheer or boo the guy off the stage. The winner gets to win $100 million dollars and a chance to perform in Vegas.

Prison Break

Well if you have nto caught this, or if you have not heard of this, where have you been?? This show led me to the string of tv serials. Every episode is like watching a short movie. 4th season running and is shown on every monday night at FOX. Basically, to sum it all, michael scoffield went to jail on purpose just to get his brother who was framed, out of prison. Many things happen in between, they escaped with some fellow prisoners who tagged along and it led to a wild goose chase. They got into trouble and got send into Panama prison which was a totally different prison to FOX RIVER. Season 4 talks about them, having escaped from Panama, doing things for this FBI agent for this company. You really got to watch it if you hadnt.

Heroes

3rd season just premiered few days ago, which left our dear tai in dilemia to whether to catch prison break or heroes. Basically, Heroes is about a group of people that do not know each other, having different special abilities such as 1. able toteleport through time 2. able to hear what people are thinking in their minds 3. a dual personality 4. melting metals 5. able to paint out the near future 6. able to communicate with machines 7. able to go through solids 8. able to self heal etc etc.

dancing reality show which shows a wide or super variety genre of dances. Imagine hiphop dancer doing jazz, or contemporary dancer doing the krump.

My Name is Earl

This show is super funny. Talk about this guy who won the lottery but yet got hit by a car accident, watched a tv programmer which talks about karma, which is you will be blessed when you do good and cursed when you done something wrong. Used to be an ang mo ah beng who likes to sabo and make people's life jialut, he came up with a list to make it up for them and strikes them off the list after he has done so.
he lives in a motel with a slower than slow brother and his friends are some trailer park white trash. Good to watch for a good laugh!

Survivor

being a boy scout has left me marvelled over how the managed to survive and strategy and lose weight in this reality tv show. Coming back real soon and will be shot in africa.

Kid Nation

This is also a super nice show which stopped running after first season due to some problems. 40 children are left to take charge a cow-boy town in the middle of a desert and left to rule and maintain it for 40 whole days. every 2-3 days, someone can get to volunteer himself out of the game and the "senators" of the 40 can elect one kid to receive a gold star which is $20000. Funny to see how kids between 7 to 15 work together. They played interesting challenges which classify them into merchants, working class, chefs and servants which are the roles they have to embrace for the next 3 days.

Employers know that they can hire at the lower rate
Government knows that foreigners fill up positions which are not filled by Singaporeans
Foreigners know that Singapore is a safe country with many opportunities

Date to Our Primary School

Last friday was eve of national day and teachers were all given half the day off. So Adrena and I decided to head back to our primary school to visit our alma mater and see if we could get to see any of our teachers. Its probably been 11 years since i went back to Qifa.

This is how i get to school that time. School is 5mins wal from my place. We usually had to lift our hands to stop the cars

When we reach school, we had to go up to the school hall for assembly. I remembered that i used to be called on stage to pull my ears on a couple of occasions. I think they dont implement this in schools now.

Then we had to go back to climb 4 storeys up to go back to class. Remembered queuing up after recess and placing a finger to our lips and slowly walking back to class.

Used to be in 6H which was the best class in school, considering that 80% of the class went to the top schools in Singapore. Many now have become successful in their own field and probably some are relocated overseas by now.

The rusty metal cupboard which my teachers would put their cane. I still remembers that some of the canes have scotch tape wrapped around at the tip to prevent from splinters from hurting our lil palms.
In an era with no internet/handphone/pager/lan game/arcade, we played good ol' one leg, marble, zero point, pepsi cola, 5 stones during recess.
Water cooler was implemented during primary school, and i still remembered my mum asking me not to drink from the cooler as its not that clean. haha. check out the height of the water coolers!
I never understand why we had to draw curls and curves to learn cursive writing. English textbook was called coursebook then and it includes characters like mr yaki and mr bala.

ladybird books during our time are still being used.

I used to need to lean forward to see whats downstairs.

The basketball court is still there.

This place wasnt covered up last time and it serves as a good drying place for mops. Someone would spill the water when they tip over their water bottles and he has to go and get the mop to clear up the mess.
I used to be in 4G with Adrena, now we have concluded she was 2nd in class and i'm 3rd after much discussion. =|

The assembly area for the early morning mari kita is now a basketball court, wonder where they do their flag raising now.

We visited some teachers too!

Mr Ambrose James was my primary 4 form teacher. Really left me an impression.
His children are all grown up, married, and staying in germany and amsterdam.

Mdm Wong Chun was my P6 Chinese teacher and she still keeps our class list!
Had a good talk with her in the staffroom and now she is a grandmother of 2!

Mrs Lim-tan was adrena's P1 teacher but i knew her as well. Super super soft spoken lady whom adrena's mum said whom she felt was the best p1 teacher around.

I helped out her preschool class when i was a student back then so she kinda know me.

Canteens now have a foodcourt setting. Wonder who came up with these names. haha

Are university campuses here safe?

Avoid travelling alone at night. Use well-lit and busy sidewalks. Keep your mobile phone handy in case you need to call for help.

These were among the security tips sent via e-mail by the National University of Singapore (NUS) to its students on June 20, two days after a sexual assault in Clementi Woods Park opposite the campus.

On June 18, a female NUS student in her mid-20s was attacked at 10.40pm while walking along a footpath in the park, a short cut between the campus and the housing estate in that area.

The police and the school were unable to release more information as investigations are ongoing.

But it has since become a talking point among university students here. Many said it was the first time they had heard of a sexual assault involving a student on or close to campus.

When contacted, NUS, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU) said they had no records of similar incidents.

While the circumstances of the assault are unknown and the incident happened outside the school's grounds, two issues have surfaced from the current discussion: Are university campuses here safe? Are students complacent about safety?

Going by what 60 university students told The Sunday Times, most feel their campuses are safe and are satisfied with the existing security facilities, though some think more can be done to enhance safety.

NUS third-year economics student Preetika Gupta, 20, pointed out certain routes in her school which are not well-lit. One of them is the route leading from her hall at the Prince George's Park residences to the Faculty of Science building.

Ms Choo Pei Ling, 20, a second-year arts and social science student at NUS, said: 'There are so many dark and deserted corners in the school; anyone can just come in and hide.'

Students at NTU voiced similar concerns. Mr Ong Kai Sin, 26, a final-year engineering student, said: 'I always wonder why there aren't more street lights at NTU. It's probably even darker than some parks in Singapore.'

NTU, which is located near Jurong West, is surrounded by forest and a military live-firing range.

Some students were also wary of the increasing number of outsiders they see in their school.

NTU third-year accountancy student Soh Xinyi, 21, said: 'There are so many construction sites in school these days; the school should employ more guards to patrol the campus grounds.'

Students seemed to have fewer complaints about SMU, which is in the city.

Third-year business student Jeremy Ching, 24, said: 'Within the school, it is very safe. The only dangerous spot near the school is near the Timbre nightspot where many people park their cars. It's rather secluded and spooky there.'

All three campuses are open to the public, though there is usually restricted access to school buildings and hostels. Entry points are monitored by CCTV cameras while security guards patrol campus grounds.

Besides the e-mail circular, it is not known if NUS will take immediate measures to step up security, although its spokesman told The Sunday Times that routes leading to the campus are generally safe.

The school works closely with the police and neighbourhood groups to resolve safety concerns outside its compound.

NTU and SMU did not say if they would further tighten security, although NTU added that its security framework is reviewed regularly. It also has no plans to make visitors register their names.

Most of the students interviewed, however, said they would be more careful after the incident. This includes walking faster along deserted roads and avoiding studying in school till late.

NUS first-year mechanical engineering student Chng Hui Min, 20, said: 'The latest I would leave is around 9pm. It is just good sense.'

Tribute to Randy Pausch

If you had one last lecture to give, what would it be

Randy Pausch was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Sept 2006.
In Aug 2007 , the doctors told him that he has 3-6 months to live.

But despite knowing that he was going to die, he stays a positive outlook in life and make the best of what he has.

He gave this lecture in Sept 2007 titled "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" or commonly known as "The Last Lecture", asking the audience "what wisdom would you try to impart to the world if you knew it was your last chance?"

I have the chance to view the lecture in Oct 2007 and was deeply impacted by the video. To think a dying man could face death and yet remain contributing the youth and nation in such a big measure. Indeed the lecture was truly truly inspiring to have heard it from a dying man.

His contributions has led to many accolades such as

President Bush wrote him a personal letter
Person of the week by ABC
listed as top 100 most influential people by TIME
Nov 19th as Randy Pausch day in Pittsburgh
etc

Randy Pausch died on Last Friday 25July and he was 47 yrs old then.

High Cost Of Living

Recently things have been going up. It can be pretty depressing for many people since out of so many things that is going up, the salary that comes in every month is still basically the same. One prominent increment which people will notice is the increase in the erection of erp gantries. If you are complaining, well wait a while longer, because more gantries are gonna open. There will be a total of 65 gantries operating by this year. Well recently, i just went to CHEC to compile some papers. Taking the usual AYE>>ECP>>exit rocher, it cost $3 to enter Bugis.

Maybe next time, we all have IU unit attached to us like a watch and we can pay when we take the lift up, this is also to prevent congestion and overloading the lift.

things looking bleak, its has been announced that employers are told not to offer increment as a solution for inflation, well offering increment will result in employers getting more foreign talents to serve the roles of fellow singaporean, leaving the unemployment rate to go up so this is perfectly logical. Unemployment rates up and employees getting a far less deal than desired will result in drained out of local talents. So much things have increased, i cant really catch up with all the increment...

well its been so long since i last blogged, have been so caught up with many stuff that blogging isnt very high up on the priority now. Well so many things to blogged, i shall just slowly slowly blogged them as time goes by and when i feel more like typing more.

this week or weeks has/have been a week of sighs
been to acer service centre one time too many
it all happen when my laptop produced distortion or laggy sounds
resulting in slight lagginess in the computer

so with all faith, i went down to acer
so that they could solve my problem
after all my warranty ends in sept 2009
they changed my motherboard and i thought all was good
then i went back home on express 502
halfway through i tried to startup my laptop
somehow my lappie just cant get started
so i had to make a U-turn back to acer again
battery component in motherboard was spoilt
whats the point of replacing the motherboard with another one that is faulty somewhere else
spent a total of 5hrs at acer service centre

Went back and on way back, realise that the audio socket was faulty
i was already sian and disappointed by acer service
given the replacement of refurbished motherboard which was not checked through enough

then came the hdd breaking down.
I have never experienced any of my hdd corrupted
i was fed up and i needed to back up my stuff
my 160gb external hdd was with alice and alice has gone to macau

well done!
so i backed up my stuff to another laptop with a 2gb thumbdrive
thank God for a 2gb thumbdrive and not a 512mb one
hdd corrupting result in really slow transfer
a 2gb transfer takes ard half an hour to take place
some photos and files were gone also

wrote a feedback to acer and ask them to give me a call so that i can really feedback to them
waited a couple of days and none called
so i had to call them to direct me to the right person
so that i can direct my grievances to

okie got a satisfactory answer finally
they are gonna replace my laptop with another model
and its brand new =)

Dear Mr Kelvin Tan,
Thanks for teaching me for 2 years from 1998 to 1999 and for some of us, you might have known that for some of us, we just address you as Kelvin Tan. 10 years ago when you taught us, you were young, just out of NIE, filled with zest to impart your knowledge with us. There were some friction between the us and him and i must admit that you wasnt that well received. We were all young rebellious and he was inexperienced. I could still remember you in your signature shirt and tshirt combination when you came for class.
Days ago, Wendy smsed to say that you passed away suddenly. I flipped through the papers for the obituary and saw your face. I tried to recall if your name was Tan Chay Hong but could not remember anything but that picture in the papers could not be mistaken.
Went to your wake yesterday night, some of the 4K people were there. Spoken to your mum and found out what happened, saw the photos on the wall, you have really grown so much thinner in Zhonghua. Through your mum, we knew that you delayed seeking the doctor due to your commitments at work and conditions aggravated.
10 years ago, you were just a young teacher teaching us, 10 years later, you passed away.
Though i do not know you personally or remember that i have any contact with you within the timeframe of 1998-1999, your demise just kept me thinking about life and how short life could be. Truly standard of living and quality of life are not exactly the same.

Through all these, you taught me/us another lesson....prob a final one

So here's my report on the event.
Eve of the proposal, mr ken called me to say that he bought the wrong media for the videocam which led us going down to moustafa at midnight to get the dvd-r. He gave a long description with photos of the meetup point the next day for the surprise.
Me and his other member met early, linked up at jurong east mrt to go down to kranji together. With 2 pairs of groggy eyes, we made our way across to malaysia which we were supposed to take the 170 bus to kota raya, which mr teo has instructed and then the senai airport bus to the airport. After which we bashed our way through a 15mins stretch of rough uneven terrain through grass and rubble before we hit elite flying club. Fastforward the story, we waited for them to land at the apron.

He was flying the plane remember?
so how cool is that? oh yah, the cost of the proposal was claimed to be around $15,000(i've rounded that figure).

to my brain:
thanks for cramming all the info and squeezing them out for every paper. Recently you have been working through the night and into the morning, then you rest a while and continue to work again. Formulas after formulas, values after values. From trying to squeeze last minute french vocab to memorising the code of conduct of an engineer to the wsdl codings and waveforms in digital comm, you have the biggest credit.

to my hands:
thanks for all the finger power, for your owner believes in memorising through writing. You work even harder when the time draws near to the paper, furiously scribbling all the theoretical and the practicals. Throughout the semester, you actually did one entire report handwritten as requested by the prof though you doubt his intention of asking you to do it the most primitive way when the whole wide world is using the pc.

to my eyes:
tired weary withdrawn eyes. recently you grew swollen dark eyebags, an outcome from the sleepless nights. Coffee helped in keeping you open. Well, tough times are over, its time to get some rest.

to my body:
supper after supper and multiple late nights have resulted you getting sloppier and bloated. Its time you work and shed some of yourself off. You went through a brutal macdonalds/hor fun/ tze char/ ah lian bee hoon diet, its time to redeem urself.

Well recently there's this chain thingy going ard in youtube and it is sure spreading like fire. Its called "Five Facts about Me" so what happens is-- one person shall share 5 facts that people usually would not know about them and then at the end of the sharing, he/she shall appoint 5 other people to share "Five Unknown Facts" about themselves.

So i was wondering if it could be started on blogspot since its been going ard in youtube.

So here's 5 facts about me which people wont know

Fact #1--- I'm a big survivor fan.

Some people are soccer fans, some are korean drama fans, some are anime fans, and i'ma mega survivor fan. Let me see how many whole seasons of seasons i have watched so far. When i mean whole season, it means every single episode.

So much so that adrena's caught the survivor fever and has been watching ever since. Initially she told she wasnt a fan of it, but she started watching with me and i guess she is pretty much hooked.
I like how the games are being carried out and how players think out of the box to work out who is going to be out at the next tribal council. Its how interesting human nature is that appeals to me and of course, the beautiful scenery each exotic venue is set in. Well, of course the boy scout inside of me was prob part of the factor of why i was hooked onto the set.

Fact #2--- I once grew 10 cm within a span of a year

i was prob 1.5 metres at this age(adrena's pink water bottle is at the backgrd)

Yes, all tall guys have a short past. So i am not an exception. So during a puberty growth spurt, the height hormones in me decide to pull a joke and they try to work really really hard for that one year. So i grew and grew, not knowingly, i have grown 10 cm within a timeframe of 1 year. This led to some worries that it might affect me biologically which led to a checkup at SGH
oh yah, contrary to what every body thinks, my parents arent that tall.

Fact #3-- I once led the school in the school pledge and was gave the "skoalah sedia" command in my school

So we had a scouts founders day and somehow i was chosen to give the drills to the rest of the scouts, i still remember that the scout master told me to use my diaphragm to project my little p5 voice. This led to teachers, feeling that i could give command pretty well and i was picked to recite the national pledge from then on. Well, i could say that it was a short stint which i cant remember the duration but it ended when i left out one line of the national pledge. It was all so embarrassing.

Fact #4 -- I could have been transferred out from my school 10 yrs ago.

So being playful and naughty, i flunk every single subject there is out there and was told to leave the school with another guy who did slightly better than me. So practically i was last in the entire level. And prob you guys know the story that i repeated my year, did better and life moves on as usual. What people did not know that it was I who approach the principal and ask to do a repeat. If i were to leave it lying and gone ahead with the transfer, i might not be who i am now. The other guy did not finish his o levels and dropout the following year. I remember playful as i am, i was scared of the principal. He holds the same level of scarines of the mang kali your parents has warned you about since young. Meek as i was, i remember stepping into his office after assembly one day and told him who i was and asked to be given a 2nd chance. Thanks Mr Tham.

Fact #5 -- I was once locked inside the bus

Being a deep sleeper has led me to some troubles when i was younger. There was once i slouch and slept in the bus and the bus has terminated its service at the interchange. Somehow when i woke up, lights were off, and i was locked inside the bus. I had to go figure my way out of the bus by leaning over to the driver's seat to push some of the levers. Well, i just loved sleeping on buses. I would take 97 from jurong east to SAJC and i would sleep my way there. The trip takes around 25 to 30mins. In the wee hours of the morning, and when u have a place to sit, its logical to catch a wink or two. Well, there was one time which i had a cramp in the leg and i cant alight from the bus even though it was time for me to alight. Haha...i later alighted near tanjong pagar railway station when my leg got better and had to take the return trip back school.

Okie so above are the 5 things that people do not really know about me.

Been So busy with a lot of work, projects,assignments. So much to do and so little time. Sometimes i just dont know where to start and how to.

HRM- most dreaded by NTU students, especially even more so if you are doing EEE. The measure of how dreadful it can be cant be measure by just a few sentences in a blog. Haha. Through the project, I got to work closer with 5 strangers- friends and we spent so many late nights in NTU. Tired as it may sound, you still got to read up some stuff before u go to bed in the wee hours.

Quizzes aplenty: still left with one quiz which i failed to go. Cant finish studying that day. Was juggling between the project meetups and quizzes. Just did one quiz today. Could only finish revising 45% of it and thank God, it came out in the paper. Only that 45% which read. I thought i was doomed but it was God that saved the day!

Valentine's Day: Me and Adrena (or should i say Adrena and I since i teach primary sch engrish) decided that we should forgo celebrating on 14th of feb since everything is gonna be jack up and it will be so so crowded and we decided to celebrated it on 29th feb. Isnt that sweet? But still, i make a point to accompany her on the 14th and we made brownies together at her place! Haha, its a good choice to stay home on the 14th since we were both down with flu and fever.

so as said, we waited for the 29th which i thought it was a real special day since it was the leap year. Both of us were equally excited even before the day arrived. Baby, you know how i was about to explode, days before the day. haha. We had a good time at Rochester Park. It simply magical how 2 people can click so well.

How can i not appreciate you?

Tuition: well this entire year, i havent been doing much tuition. Just received a pending tuition and i hope it can work out as it will bring in some finances. Junee is a cute lil boy i am teaching and the mum and I had a pretty good relationship. She basically trust her son to me because she knows i can deliver which makes me even more stress up.

spelling! ya..the spell list and the spellng book is on the same book. so i just took a picture and gave him spelling off my phone...

No...i did not get the iphone. Much as i wanted to...haha...its way too expensive already. This belongs to Chenyi.-my HRM leader. Well having meddled a while with his phone. First impression is that it is a cool phone but way too expensive. He's was 16gb and $900. I think the price is jack up way too high and over rated. But nevertheless, its pretty cool,

having features like
spreading and pinching on the screen to maximise minimise images
auto rotate upon rotating of the phone
wifi (smthing which a lot of iphone clone doesnt have)
a pretty decent camera(not the best but decent 2.0at least better than my 2.0 nokia phone
slide to unlock
finger touch only(you cant use stylus or a pen to use the touchscreen)
accurate touchpad(unlike palm/ppc where screen probs are common)
nice design(apple standards)

what i dont like:
too wide for the phone(imagine how oily or stained it can get when you call)
no buttons for sms( cant sms when drive, you prob need 2 hands to sms)
easy to scratch bottom(given the metallic surface)
battery drainer(big screen = battery drainer)
no applecare in Singapore will service it
proprietary os(you know how apple is...just look at itunes)

But still these are the first impressions of the phone. It was a wow when i first held it, but after meddling with it for a while, prob the wow has downgraded to a woah. haha. Chenyi, if u happen to be reading this, haha...just a personal opinion.

Although HR departments should be aware of questions that are illegal to ask prospective employees, some hiring managers aren’t so savvy. Many illegal questions are easy for just about anyone with elementary social graces to avoid, but others might surprise you. In general, you should not ask interviewees about their age, race, national origin, marital or parental status, or disabilities.

Note that this list offers only some very broad guidelines and is not exhaustive. Check with your company’s HR department to see if your state or locality, or even your company, has additional restrictions on what you may ask.

#1: Where were you born?

This question might seem like small talk as you get to know a person, but it could also be used to gather information illegally about the candidate’s national origin. Although it may seem more relevant, you should also avoid asking, “Are you a U.S. citizen?” You can ask whether a candidate is authorized to work in the United States, but avoid asking about citizenship.

#2: What is your native language?

Again, the problem is that this question could be used to determine national origin. You can ask whether the person knows a language if it is required for the job. #3: Are you married?

So today i went for a trip down to French international school for a school excursion. We spend a entire morning going for class with the french students. Okie.. white people do study. They dont just hang out at orchard road or at some atas cafe or some skate park. They do attend school and study and they are pretty hardworking too. So i attended class with the Terminal S class which is their final year before they go for university which many of them expressed that they wont like to do it in Singapour. Heard of diff countries that they would head for ....eg. USA, England, France, Canada etc.

Did not expect that there were so many french people around in Singapore (4000+) of them! The kids are cute and adorable. The male and females look like they came out from the movie screen. They do have really nice features.

Attended English lesson and Chemistry and see how they attend class. Its been 8 years since i attended a proper chemistry lab. The french people were rather ncie and hospitable and i take this trip as a nice get my mind off school work and stress trip.

200th Post!! (June 2007 -- Present)

Seems like a rather long time since i last blogged something(minus the announcement on jan 1st). So here's a recap of how 2007 has been for me. 2007 has been rather exciting and interesting for me. Did my internship, started teaching a sec 2 class in CHEC, my aunt and family came over from canada, friends that i hosted from canada, went over to KL for the 2nd time since 2004, went to do my 1st hi-key ICT, my 1st manicure and eyebrows trimming(haha, i bet you guys reading will laugh) etc etc.

okie eyebrow trimming was painful but was kinda interesting. Used to have badly bitten nails, manicure killed the bad habit instantly. so its all about personal grooming.

Dave from Calgary came over to stay with me for 28hrs

My Aunt and Family finally came back! Missed them so much! Wayne and Kyle have grown a lot since then.

i tried driving through KPE for the first time--pretty interesting! reminds me of the movie 'DAYLIGHT' oh yah u cant speed in this tunnel- speed cameras around. max 50km/hr. And yes, u can still listen to your radio, driving through that 10mins stretch.

so i emceed one wedding for the first time- well its kinda exciting.

then Gail from Calgary came to visit! She's more asian than me now, having travelled more than 80% of Southeast asia. (Oh yah i still owe you the cd of photos, been having trouble with my burner)

and we went KL

then i got attached!! (notice the similarity with the photo above?)

My dad's car battery ran out when i stopped it at the petrol kiosk the night before and i had my 1st jumpstart lesson with the jumpstart cables. I pushed a stalled car across a junction for the very first time.

New Year was spent celebrating toasting in the car and watching the city fireworks after steamboating at her place with her parents. Great idea to avoid the massive crowd.

I know i have nothing to do with Jimmy Nah but i thought this pic was rather artistically taken and his death came as a shock also. To me, he's one of the better comedians in Singapore. His blog before he passed away http://mcking13.spaces.live.com/

Life can be so short

I took a similar pic with Faith a year ago at my grandfather's birthday so here's another one. Now Faith has grown. One more year and she will be in primary one!

Ah bin's daughter. hee...7 months ago, i was at the baby shower. so cute and cuddly. i just love children.

Ah gong's birthday party at west coast restaurant. pretty nice food i must say. according to cousin weisian, ah gong is 94 years old. I think when people reached that age, age doesnt really matter to them anymore. What matters is the fruits of their labour!

so 2008 is here and this year is gonna be an even exciting year for me. New goals, resolutions, visions awaits to be fulfilled. New energy!

title of this blogpost was inspired by trisan's blog who he has taken down from someone else haha..another good guy struck off the list again. Well, we have known each other for a pretty long time i guess since she was my classmate in primary 3 and 4.Oh yah, i was 3rd in class and she came in 4th. haha things have really been amazing and we enjoyed each other's presence a lot.

Adrena, if you are reading this, i just want to let you know that you have been really really great and i feel completed =) thank you for all that has been made possible. 2008 will be a solid good year for both of us.

cellgroup celebrated my birthday and gave me a couple of stuff and surprisingly some of the items are really what i have already been thinking of getting. really blessed to be receiving such stuffs.

Heather is 7 now and in the second grade. She still LOVES to sing.

We go to church every Sunday, We even go to Sunday School,
Sometimes I get to go when Mom & Dad teach Youth Group,
I didn't know anything different,
I thought everybody must be Methodist,

Camping @ Macdonalds

Macdonalds- a place where i love and hate. Love the idea of opening 24hrs and free wifi. Hated the food. But oh well, am determine to camp here to study and be as productive as possible. To say that exams are drawing near is a really an understatement. 10 more days to first paper! If everything goes smooth, this would be my 2nd last semester.

My 2nd last time taking exams in my entire study career. Woohoo! to recall the 10 male classmates in RV, e 5 PRC guys have all graduated from NTU/NUS and are working now.
Liang Shuang is now working with singtel. haha his email is shuang@xxxxxxxx.com. how cool is that?

Singaporean guys--Wenqian graduated NUS, working with MAS with a good starting pay. Mr Tai is graduating frm computer science in 20 days time(how nice is that) from NUS, having secured a IDA scholarship so he is gonna be IBM property. Koon teck is graduating frm NTU business next year. Kok Seng status is unknown in NUS, not sure what he is reading in NUS also. Gambatei!!!

recently just set up a facebook group to facilitate outings for 4D.
so scanned a couple of photos from what i have
wow..the photos were really obiang. everyone looks dorky inside.
haha. one conclusion. noone looks cool when he's 16 yrs old.
Its a age where you are too young to attempt stuff, yet too old to be too childish.

those were the days where:

we read slam dunk in class
we come to sch early to share homework
we work through june holidays to finish the entire physics tys
we hand in book reviews after book reviews, newspaper article after newspaper article
we were in dead silence during physics lessons and all doors were closed
we hang out at JEC and ate long john silver. Macdonalds and KFC was some sort of a luxury fastfood
we tried our best to squeeze everything into our stomach during pizza hut buffet and seoul garden
we came into class with sweaty tshirts after recess breaks
we race to the canteen stalls to get the $1 jumbo chicken drumstick
we tried to organise class chalet, bbq for after exams
we fight for the best class cleanliness award
we tried to memorise model sentence in essay books to use them for the exams

those were the times

add on:

carrying branded paper bags were the "in" thing
ah lians are girls who carry sharp combs, tight uniforms, short skirts, long socks, and long cockroach fringes. Oh yah carrying a transparent bag will be a good add on
if u carry a mtv pager or motorola jazz, you are considered hip. also, gold/silver chain is considered cool
alphanumeric at phonebooth is a regular thing with people able to key in what they want without even looking at the phone buttons

Well, some of the ppl that arent from NTU might not understand the letter below. Well, every exam period, NTU will open up tutorial rooms 24hrs for students to do their revision in. Its included in the Exam Welfare Package which is released 1 month before the exam. The opening up of the room is a good initiative by the school to many students who are looking for conducive place to stud, mainly because its quiet, cooling, bright and draws you out from the distractions outside. So people who knew me, knew that i like to study in thee tutorial rooms. Ok much said, this year's exam package din have this, what was included are stuff like canteen lights and fans will be operating 24 hrs, 2 reading rooms will be operating 24hrs, mcdonalds opening till late. haha, some of the stuffs arent even mentioning! its like telling you that the toilets are opened for 24hrs / the water cooler is working for 24hrs.

so i wrote a letter asking them why the exclusion is so. Reasons cited are pretty ridiculous. Shot them another letter to let them know how i felt and they replied back. Well, seems like nothing could be done to change it.

Sometimes i just felt that the union could do something better for their people.

We have tried to educate the students about various issues mentioned by you (even in library, the library management has done the same thing), but it will just happen again. I understand your point of view and I believe you and I are categorized as mature students. But if you look into the other students perspective, they might still hog the place. For the fully packed study rooms, it didnt happen all the time. There are times that the room is not utilized at all or only by 1 or 2 student.

We have looked into the reponses and feedbacks from the students equally (pro and con of opening tutorial rooms) and we will still look into the consideration of opening the tutorial rooms in future. Some of the concerns also came from our predeccesor (16th SU Exco), not from our own decision. As I mentioned, we have few round of discussions on this matter and students' welfare is always included in the consideration. There is also another perspective in looking at students' welfare, where proper rest is also important (I have seen many students doesnt bother to return to their home or hostel but sleep in the TR).

Perhaps this semester will be a good time to gather more pro and cons on this particular service (and also act as platform to educate the students), while we still open other facilities to study. Hope that this discussion will be a good input for our next semester exam welfare package.

Hi,

I'm regularly studying in tutorial rooms during exam period since they started the program and have always felt that its a good initiative from the school. From experience, i do not understand why you would say that there are unutilised rooms when the room are always fully packed and we have problems getting the rooms ourselves.

If the rooms are not going to be open for study, students are bound to find a room to study despite the airconditioned is off. However, this brings bad ventilation/no ventilation in the class. I believe that a bulk of the student population would really prefer to study in a conducive environment rather than one where the air is stale.

Students are mature enough to know that they should not hog/take care of their own items. Of course these are unavoidable in any place but that doesnt mean that the union should withdraw this from the package?

I believe instead of withdrawing the classrooms, why not put up signages to educate the people? i believe a lot of people will really appreciate that as a reminder.

prob the new student union can really look into this and provide something which the previous unions have done. Regarding the wastage of electricity, no doubt more rooms that are opened will result in hiking electricity bills. But money would be well spent if the rooms are properly utilised. If this is provided in the past, why not the present?

Kindly dont shortchange the student population when you are students yourselves =)

We will not open the tutorial rooms after discussions with OFPM (Office of Facilities Planning and Management) and with some considerations of last semester input. We looked into the fact that:

- From last semester, there are many unutilized rooms (although the aircon and light is on) during the 24 hrs opening. Thus the closing of tutorial rooms is mainly to reduce the wastage of electricity

- There are also misusages of the tutorial rooms (hogging) that cause unhappines among some students.

- There are also few cases of lost items

Those above feedbacks are generally addressed to us by the students (including the wastage of electricity) and therefore we decided not to open tutorial rooms. But we opened additional reading rooms in north spine and south spine, also better lighting and/or fan in CanA, B, NIE and study benches along two spines.

This year children's day was special. Got an enquiry from a parent for tuition. I told God that it would really be an additional income if i get that tuition. If i dont, probably its okie too for me. Some Facts about Nokia 6110 from an ex sony ericsson user

Its 7am and am taking a break from reading notes. Am amazed that i'm still not sleepy. haha but shall force myself to bed. It must have been that redbull that i drank.

been a sony ericsson user ever since i jumped ship to K750i to k800i to k810i
so this time going back to nokia is a pretty reluctant move but still i needed to get this for the project

Shall write in point form since its easier to construct my thoughts at this time
so prob this is my first review on my gadget

weight is slightly heavier than my previous phone buy=t acceptable

dimension is pretty ok, not too big. feels good when you hold it. Good for a guy's palm

slider of the phone feels good, doesnt feels like its a cheap sliding phone, in fact it reminds me of one of the samsung sliding phones. its actually pretty fun sliding in and out.

Camera in front is vga while the rear one is 2 megapixel. when the camera button is pressed without openning the rear lense lid, it switches on the front vga camera. Good for people who wants to camwhore or need a mirror

Buttons on the slider have led lights, amazing thing is that it seems to have a sensor such that under bright light conditions, the led lights wont come up. When lighting is poor, the lights come out pretty nicely.

2 quick access buttons--menu and gps

menu-- able to change theme such that it can show the icons , not just in grid view or list view, but in pretty interesting scrolling forms. other forms are not user friendly but definately a head turner

button-scroll--left right up down scroll is good and of better quality than sony ericsson's joystick. respond better than sony ericsson's

Messages-- pretty awful sms format or maybe i cant get used to it. nokia users should not have problems with it though but i feel sony ericsson's format s much better but i guess that proprietary interface for them

Contacts--again my contact list in sim card now jumbled up because of the nokia way of showing last name first.

Logs--but pt is that it doesnt show how many sms you have sent--previously there is this function in SE. they should have it so that we could keep check. Good point is that they have a log sheet where u can trace activities carried out by the phone eg calling out, receiving calls. previously in sony ericsson they restrict you to only a short list, judging by the long list i have in the phone, keeping such records seems to be of no problems at all

Settings--3dtones(something se doesnt have .....surround sound tones)

GPS--getting your own position needs some time for the receiver to receive the signals and transmit for calculation. i cant get any location when i am in a hdb flat.
Routes are not the best route but it ensure that u get there

map is by route 66 and is different from map provided for N95. think one of these days i should try catherina's one

This is FREE OF CHARGE SERVICE. you can use it even with no sim card inside. Not happy with the map? online forumers have tried to install mapking successfully and use the built in GPS receiver.

AGPS--this is chargeable according to GPRS. it helps u capture ur location faster by data transmission through GPRS. GPRS is not equal to GPS. 2 different things actually. You can offset it so that you wont use it.

Symbian interface--symbian seems to run pretty fast on this set with no problems and the phone is able to open more than 1 program at one time. Meaning , i can GPS and read sms and go back to my GPS without exiting.

main page of my phone resembles PDA's today page so that all your appointments can surface on this page

Speakers--pretty loud or should i say really quite loud for a phone though when it is at maximum, it experiences noise but thats expected.

Battery--pretty ok, prob for normal ppl its 2 days a charge. If you are using GPS, probably you will need to charge it everyday

Infra-red--non existent

screen-good colours. infact has more colours than k810i. screen size is small but good enough for GPS. You dont keep on looking at the screen while driving anyway

Text to Voice--haha, i just tried this function, it READS your new incoming sms messages. how cool can it get. haha. good effort nokia!

camera: bad bad bad. doesnt even measure up to my k750i 2 megapixel phone. Under good lighting, it should decent photos, under bad lightings, photos come out with too much noise, grainy. night pics are ard same quality for 1.3 megapixels.

Car Kit--fit the phone set snuggly, in fact it fits any size. comes with car handphone charger so its pretty thoughtful, judging by the fact the battery drains if u use GPS. I like the fact that u can just place ur phone in the set and when there's a call, you can just speak to the speakphone and it faces right in front of u while driving. Huiqing will be pleased to know that!

All in all, pretty decent phone with bombastic functions. It would have been sweeter if the camera could be more decent.

So the bak kut teh ppl are down at founders again.
Its been a really long while... we had such a hard time arranging for this trip down balestier

Isaiah was pretty amazed that we intend to go for supper when combined cellgroup ended so late
Pastor Derick delivered a great word, great move of presence of God which really ministered just when i felt so stretched

Pics are all taken by my new nokia 6110, in fact we relied on this GPS phone frm CHC>>Balestier>>Eastwood>>Kampong Bahru.. though it din provide the best route, it did serve its purpose in directing u to the destination. Not too bad. The car kit is pretty stylo, so Bruce if you are reading it, prob you should get it. Think you will have fun playing with it and it should help you to get frm place to place. No more street directory anymore!

Ok, i admit, photos are really poor quality. Sony Ericsson is still number 1 in camera phone but guess right now, we cant have best of both worlds.

So this is part 2 and i must say that my handphone history is ever revolving so quickly

I think many people have not heard of this brand, well for a start its a thailand brand, but it comes in pretty strong with a 5 megapixel camera. I had a 1 to 1 trade with another guy online. This phone takes amazing pictures that will blow you off and it looks pretty much like k750i. However, underneath its shell, is a pretty poor performance user interface. Apart from a lousy sms dictionary and bad keypads, this particular phone hangs most of the time. It once hang itself while ringing and created a big din in SOXAL.

so i ask for a change back after 6 days of playing with it, thank God the guy was nice enough to change it back. Sold off my K800i to a NTU vietnamese student and throw in extra $40 to get a K810i

I must say that i really like this phone a lot, but somehow i felt the k800i takes better picture than k810i, but probably i might be wrong. Well this phone looks nice and functions really well as a camera phone. There are some shortcut keys that make this phone a really sweet device. I really hate to let it go but i need to make room for a GPS device to start my FYP.

Hmm as of now, i do not really know what to say about this device. It still with me and i do plan to sell it off le. Thinking of working with symbian os rather than windows mobile as i think windows mobile os is no very compliant with java but i might be wrong in this. There's problem with the GPS software. I dont really know how to install it. so prob i need to let it go. Dont want to waste too much time on it. Smsing is pretty cool because u get to scribble it but apart from that, its like other PDAs, and it comes with frequent resets

and i dont really like to use a PDA phone, so nokia came out with 2 models with inbuilt GPS recently- N95 and N6110. N95 is ridiculously priced and is beyond reach(or the unrich). So i got myself a Nokia navigator 6110.

This is the 1st time i am using Nokia after it change symbian and i must say i am not comfortable with it. GPS works perfectly fine for its 1st attempt from senja back to jurong but somehow it asks u to turn at small lanes which i din attempt to. This works on AGPS and i think it might be more manageable than with mapking but i might be wrong. Camera shots are grainy and i guess thats the way it is with nokia phone. Why cant sony ericsson come out with a GPS phone?
sigh i already pledge loyalty to SE and now i have to do this.

Lets hope all these are worth the trouble.

My mum just called me to see one of the wonders of Jurong West. Glanced below and Woah there was a mini Chinese Garden down there. Photo is taken by my K810i which shall be replaced by nokia 6110 soon. Thats how it is when u stay at an apartment facing a park. On normal days, this place is quiet and nice, on mooncake festivals, its pretty havoc. The banglas will have a good spring cleaning tmr. Hate to see the sight of the park tomorrow morning.

The big hooha recently in jurong west is a "holy" tree found. This holy tree has the face of monkeys snakes and seems to be a hot favourite for ToTo punters. It now stretches to a few trees nearby to have been said to be "holy" also. What amazes me was the big crowd around the trees. Soon, every tree stump can be "holy" le. Its so much easier to put our faith and trust in Jesus. Some residents nearby have strongly express their views on this unfavorable act. lets hope the fad end soon and people can come out of their senses. Watch too much transformers le.

Was talking to a brother in cellgroup via msn
and while talking i drew up an illustration and my mind was something like the picture here
blogged it because i said smthing that was pretty fresh to me

Today i went out to do something out of the norm, went off to a faraway place , where you can have your own private space to do your own stuff. Haha, people asked me why is it that i go alone and not with friends. My intention of going there is to be by myself, to do some proper thinking and organising, and not to have fun or talking to people. Sometimes, i just felt that with the busyness that we all have, we tend to have lesser time to be by ourselves. Thought this is a good time to do some proper thinking, do some clearing of the mind, just me and God.

Dear God,
Today marks the 1st day which i step into a lab to proceed on my FYP. Let me say that it can be rather frustrating when you know nothing about the item,read up the technical stuff. The prof just throw you with a hardware, in fact he din even throw, i have to go draw it out myself, print out the manual from the company's website and do massive reading. Binding itself cost $4.50 so you cant guess how thick the manual is. My brand new ink cartriage went from full tank to half. Went down and realise that the adapter i got for the RS232 adapter is a female end which what i intended was a male end. Went down to Jp to get a RS232 male-male adapter so that i can properly connect the antenna. installed the driver and the program which was inside wasnt self explanatory. It was pretty bad, esp when you dont get any guidance from Prof CHC. Hair pulling and frustrating, so am here at 9:30pm in the lab by myself blogging away. Noone's here, did not step out of the lab since 5pm. But today wasnt really fruitful, and i am pretty unsatisfied with it. Sigh. Thank God the lab tech lady was nice. Irene was esp nice and i thank God for placing her in midst of my FYP. Help me a lot with the registration in the lab, got my seat and cabinet. So i got my private space to do work and a computer for me to work on. Tomorrow shall be my weekly meetup with Prof CHC, dont think i will touch anything as for now, anyway i got to return the set back to the lab so that this another person can present his work to the company. Heard from irene that it has 1st class last time, prob i could link up with him and get some guidance. That would be good. God, you know my heart and what i'm going through. Allow me to finish everything smoothly? Do you happen to know about RFID v720s series? Holy Spirit speak to me regarding this ok?

Life without Limbs

Nick Vujicic came to preach today and it was my first time hearing from him. Despite having no limbs, he marveled me on how big a giant he was on the inside. Indeed it was the God element that sen him through and encouraged him on the way. Given without, people with such disabilities would long be resting in a nursing centre, given up hope on life, on dreams. But yet circumstances did not change the way he think. Sometimes we ourselves are defeated by the circumstances around us, and that changes the way how we think or we used to think. However if you kept on seeking, no matter what the situation might be, you're gonna get it. Small man on the outside, big heart on the inside.

Think would go get his dvd next week. Today is gonna be one of e earliest day i tuck into bed despite a quiz tomorrow. Just emailed my tutor and told her that i would be going for makeup. The headache is really pretty bad, popped 2 panadols, cant really study tonight, aint prepared tfor the paper. God will heal!!

SINGAPORE: An armed SAF National Serviceman was caught in Orchard Road at 8pm on Monday, 19 hours after he had gone missing from camp

Police said the 20-year-old went missing at 11.59pm on Sunday from the Mandai Hill Camp, with a rifle and some ammunition issued by the army.

200 officers mounted a manhunt and police found him near Orchard Cineleisure.

They also recovered the missing rifle and ammunition and will investigate the case under the Arm Offences Act.

The Ministry of Defence has identified the NSman as Corporal Dave Teo Ming.

Mindef said he had been given the rifle and ammunition for guard duty.

He is an infantry rifleman from the First Battalion at the Singapore Infantry Regiment.

Corporal Teo was enlisted in the army in September 2005 and will finish his national service with the army next month. - CNA/ir

Wonder whats running through this fellow's head? Wow it must have been quite a scene at orchard tonight. 200 officers patrolling at orchard and he was supposed to ORD next month! Guess by the looks of it, he better have a very very good reason for his action or he could be staying with the army for a long long time. Maybe he thought that his rifle was meant to be kept by himself for reservist? There used to be a saying, a soldier needs to treat his rifle like his wife, but this is ridiculous. His parents would have freaked out to see live weapons in his room! Wonder if he cause anyone else to be punished together with him. That's how it usually works in the army. the armskot man must have some sleepless nights!

Teacher's day meal today with the guys at CHEC tuition. Its really nice place to have a meal in. Its the sort of place you will bring your partner to dinner, with live jazz band at night. Good ambience great people. Realise that through such outings, you get to know your ministry mates better. Haha.

So it was a fulfiling meal and Pastor preached a really solid message today. The message which he shared has so much solid stuff that i took out my laptop to type while He shared. I would not think that the space on the notes which he gave has enough space for it. Spiritually, it acts as a pacifier for me. Its really a tough week for me and i got more to face this coming week, and the presence of God just clothe me like a pacifier is to a baby.I'm glad i came.

Well its back to java-ing for me. HELP!! i prob need to read another 200 pages today and tmr!

False teachers have been saying the same thing over and over again, instead allowing the church to be in a false sense of peace

Experts in blurring the area

They make it hard for people to pursue the narrow way

They teach the narrow way is actually the broad way

Wolves are dangerous because they are disguised like sheeps

False teacher will never ask people to come with their true intentions

Sheeps have one of the smallest brain amongst animals

Sheeps forgets their direction every single day

Beware what lies under its fleece, is it a sheep or wolf

To recognise that, check out its fruits

Everyone will manifest its own nature

What are the fruits to inspect in a prophet or teacher?

If you don’t see te attributes of the fruit of the spirit, most probably he is an imposter.

And i met up with a friend from canada who visited Singapore for 29hours before he embark on his trip to KL, so was trying to squeeze every part of Singapore into the tight schedule. So 2nd day, we went to Sentosa on a cable car ride. I cant imagine when i did the cable car, prob when i was really really young. It wasnt really that scary as it seemed from below up. Haha.

Wow, this is really graphic stuff, sometimes we just take our salvation for granted, its human nature to think that way since that day when you went down the aisle down to the front and said the sinner's prayer, we did not pay anything. Instead we start to receive God's manifold blessings...its easy to turn your back on God since they are no clause or strings attached to this relationship.
BUT
When you have this acknowledgment of what Jesus has done for us on the cross and how He died so that we all could live.

When you have the acknowledgment on how true He is in this world and how He sees you through many periods in your life

When you know that God is not a hocus-pocus action packed porcelain figure

You wont want to turn your back on God because He is so real today!

So i just Vista-rize my laptop. Well its looking good but a bit slower than the original xp. Prob my 1gb ram is still not enough but everything is still pretty smooth and ok. Review: The meal is pretty filling , esp when mine is not the biggest burger the shop offers. The meat is well stuffed and thats what makes you feel full after having it. The refill of drinks is nothing to shout about, fries are okay standard, but lightly salted which is good for health conscious ppl. The burger is as good as it looks, with thicker chicken patties than your regular Burger King. It looks much better than the Big Mac/ Whooper.

Okie, its wee hours and i'm still in school, trying to finish off my tutorials. Need to extra work because next week, a friend from overseas will be here and i will be hosting him for 1.5 days. Dont wanna be lagged behind.

And there's this module that i'm really frustrated about. Recommended textbook is not on sale at the bookstore as the book seemed to be out of print, 2nd handcopies seemed to be extinct, the only one i found online is posted in 2005. The guy probably have sold it or chuck it somewhere else but nevertheless i still email him. The notes are pretty badly prepared without pictures due to copyrights reasons, not much examples. Argh, how do we do the tutorial questions then. To make things worse, its taught by this indian professor that speaks in an accent which i cant really grasp. I struggle in figuring out what he was saying and i am already at the front row seats. This is bad....

Ordered the book through the publisher, hope he can do something abt it. This is terrible....

Today was my first casual cellgroup with E78 and we had it in sentosa. Was pretty excited beforehand because i was hoping to get a proper tan and a good volleyball session. Hmm did we have a good time together? yes. Good proper tanning sun?--Not at all. Lunch was pretty fun which ended with a few of us doing the forfeits for a game. I wouldhave preferred the wasabi sushi rather than the ala carte ginger slice tofu wasabi.

real classic song--was playing this on the guitar when i felt your presence in the room. Just cant get enough of you. Tonight i just felt like taking my guitar out to play, search for all the chc songs and start playing- from all the praise to the worship songs. Every single song led me through a certain period in my life and it just brought back memories of the goodness of God in my life. This was one of the all time favourites and some how you can just go on and on and on and on singing to this. Knowing abt the Holy Spirit and knowing the Holy Spirit is really 2 different things. Its easy to know abt the Holy Spirit. It may be your first time to church and the pastor preaches abt the Holy Spirit and you come to know of its existence. But to know about the Holy Spirit takes time and cultivation. Its like knowing a friend and this friend sees you through the high and low points in your life. He rejoices when you rejoices, he encourages when you need encouragement and he reminds when you are blur. You just cant get enough of Him! Super tired now, had a super bad dream last night and a super long day today, gave 2 tuitions today and I just came back from NTU at 33oam, responded to Ken's call for help and though i was a bit drained, i had good time doing the editing their video. Ken wanted an announcement video for their zone meeting and called me along to edit . Anyway got 2 new students in the class. Was a bit surprised since chec is ending class in sept and they came in just a month before. Well, one of them is slightly weaker due to certain reasons which she herself know best. Did what i could to talk into her and share with her my experiences. I was quite jialut last time also. This was the reason why i started tutoring and later on joining tuition ministry because i want the students to know that its never too late to make a u-turn, there's still hope to change for the better!

Hey student, if you are reading this, dont give up yourself totally. You're too young to waste your life away. Lets see what we can do with these few lessons. =)

I think there might be a survey form that is gg to be passed around for the students to fill so that we know where we can improve. I wonder what my students would say about me. Hahaha.

Copyrights Issue BUT GOD

Firstly lecture, my indian prof mentioned that for some of the notes, diagrams have been taken out due to copyrights issue. Mine wasnt because i got them straight from the photocopy shop and prob that amendment was done later. But still, just check my tutorials today and wow, he really took some diagrams out. Poor prof has to draw the diagram himself. Well, he could have used a ruler though...
this is one of the chim modules. 3rd lecture and i'm already pretty lost. EE4285 computational intelligence. Jiayou bah kaishen!

Read Pastor Phil's BUT GOD during my free periods. must say that its really a very good book to read, was very inspired by the examples drawn from the bible. BUT GOD happened 60 over times in the bible
and each time when a disaster or calamity occurred, God stepped in and restored everything. Its really a good book for everyone. If you are always a kan chiong spider, you need the book. If you are always feeling insecured, you need this book. Nice photos on each page and its really a book for simply reads and good pondering as Pastor shares his insights.

Think many times in life, there are BUTS popping out. "BUT exams are coming up....BUT i have no cash...BUT my dog is sick...BUT i have no confidence....BUT i feeel guilty...", but we just forget that there is a bigger BUT factor in our lives that overrules all the problems that is taking place.

Tutor's Cellgroup

Ever seen a high tech cellgroup game? Well today i had my very first encounter. We did win lose or draw on CHEC's very own smart board. It was pretty fun, just that the stuff to draw were pretty hard to guess. I had to draw a "vga cable" haha. very intellectual indeed!

Tutors fellowship was simple. No praise, no testimony, no preaching. Just one worship song and bamm the presence of God was there. It came really instantly as we sang the song. Its just so simple. I was really ministered to during worship and God really spoke to me abt Him being the controller of my life. Just like in a game of basketball, different players play different positions. God is the controller of the game, he direct our paths, he sees the big picture and he give instructions. Whether we heed His advice, its all to our free play, but if we choose to disobey, we will definately lose the game!

Kenny shared a offering message which provided a great insight. He shared abt the bible calling us to move from faith to faith, glory to glory. Often people have no problems with moving glory to glory. We have no probs changing from 3 room flat to a 4 room to a 5 room, no problems from changing cars to bigger cars, no problem from one income upgrading to another income. But its always the faith to faith part which we struggle with. Often we struggle with the mindset that we adopt from our lifestyles and experience that comes from the society-the secular. But God doesnt work the natural, he works the supernatural. FAith to faith precedes glory to glory. God is not interested in our sudden surge of faith. We dont need to wait for Dr john avanzini to bring forth a mega giving message before we give a good offering. God isnt looking for a hyped up giver but a consistent giver and that is how He lift us to the next level. Was really challenged by what Kenny has shared and it brought me to another perspective.

Am excited over A R Bernard's service. Think its gonna be awesome. Recently i have been lazy with blogging much stuff. Adding photos is so much easier....

Okie , i have been procrastinating this for a couple of years and i know if i dont do it soon, prob i will never will. You know how procrastination can cause massive delay in whatever you want to do But 42km isnt really a short run. Did my 21km in less than 2hrs during army days, and at that time i felt i could have gone ahead to do 30km, but hey! we're talking about someone that has orded for 3 years already. I really need some motivation. Well, am now opening up my run for sponsorship. Its not at all easy to go for full marathon. Before you run, you have to sign up and signing up is pretty expensive. As for now, registration cost $55, the later you sign, the more expensive it is. $55 >> $75 >> $85. hey $85 you can prob chip in more to get a pair of running shoes already.

Ok, so am officially opening my registration for sponsorship. You can sponsor me to pay for the registration and i will run. Jean mentioned that with sponsorship, there would be expectations. Haha. So hmm...how about, if i dont finish the run, i will just return the sponsorship amt?
That would prob motivate me to run more.

Things have been going so smoothly in my life recently that its almost scary. I cant remember the last time when something awful actually happened within these few weeks. It's almost like what Pastor would mention about, life as a bed of roses, and i truly believe that its because of God's covering, that is why i am enjoying all these.
Ever since transferring over to another cellgroup, this entire thing i have been experiencing, seemed like a doorgift/welcome gift from God and i am totally enjoying it. Its when you are being under the cover of God, everything seems to be so smooth. Well, i'm not saying that nothing will go wrong, but what i am saying is that even if things had to go wrong, God will make it right. Is that why we called God the 'most high' because he is the coverer for all of us here?
Just a few weeks ago, i received a speeding ticket. No i wasnt going at 'initial d' speed. In fact, i drove at 82km/hr but i admit i was at fault the speed limit was held at 70km/hr. so there was the unexpected flash and it did caught me by surprise since i did not feel i was going fast. The ticket came on saturday. Well it did not caught me by surprise and i knew i had to pay up. there is no way i could reason with the traffic police for this blunder. What caught me by surprise was that i need not pay for the fine or demerit points. The letter turn out to be a warning letter stating that i could have been fine $130 and 4 demerit points. Its nothing to be proud of but i thank God that He kept me really well covered. The angels must be really hard at work here.
Woke up slightly later for service on sunday and i knew that's it. I'm going to be late and i'm suppose to book the seats for cg and we are expecting so many friends that service. All these turns out well, erick and cat gave me a ride to expo. End up even earlier than alice...gaga...
Maybe next week, i shall try to overslept again and see if there's going to be a free ride again... pray that erick gets the van again this weekend =)
God, can i just test you this once again? =)

i know, free hugs have been around for quite some time and it has started kicking off even in Singapore. For those that do not, its either you dont read the papers or you are just plain ignorant. Basically, it started off with this guy called Juan Mann, holding this big placard on the streets, offering Free Hugs. Well, sometime or another, whether you are guy or a girl, whatever colour, whatever age, you need a hug and a hug does feel really good! It probably wasnt that big a thing in Singapore because of the asian culture and that we arent that expressive.

Wouldnt it be nice to offer FREE PRAYER(s)? Haha everyone has something to pray for. Something creative to get souls saved? Just a wild thought, of course it wont really be possible in singapore, you need a license to do it =) Well if you need a prayer, just give me a call, i wouldnt charge you a single cent. Hows that?

Recently a company just increased her price on her various packages and that stirred up quite a few comments on the net, press everywhere. my family was affected and we are still under contract. So neither could we terminate it or do anything about it but to pay the extra $4++. This is really ridiculous. A promise that could be broken really disappoints the consumers. Probably the authorities should really do something about it, like offering consumers another option other that company. When a telco first came up, it monopolises the entire handphone market. Prices were high because there were no competition and plans were at so much high rates. then MDA offers company A and company B which results in more competitive prices! I think they should do for tv also.

Breaking a contract like this is like ordering chicken rice, paid $2 for it, taken the first bite and the boss comes back and tell u that while you are eating, he has increased the price to $3

Its like buying a psp at simlim, paid the money and you thought that you have the full set, little that u know that the price you pay does not include the battery and adapter, and you have to fork out extra money to ge these items.

Thank God that I have a covenant keeping God. A God that delivers what he promises. With credibility comes people. Someone that is uncredible, you wont want to associate with him. Its no wonder why the christian population is growing.

much said, i just have to live with my $4 increased imposed and live with it with another 15mths. Wonder if the company provides any increment offsets just like our gst offsets.
